My fall reading started a little slow due to work, school and, well, life. But, I’ve managed to squeeze in some really great books in September and October despite things being crazy busy.
So, you might be wondering…will I make my goal of reading 52 books a year if my pace has slowed? I’m not sure, but I’m still hopeful. Regardless, I still feel like 52 books a year is a great goal to strive for throughout the year and keeps me motivated to read every single week, when I used to go weeks without reading.
My Fall Reads
Silver Girl by Erin Hilderbrand (3.5/5) – My first Erin Hilderbrand, but it moved a little slow for me. However, this theme, a spin on the personal fallout of a Bernie Madoff-esque scenario, was a creative plot line that kept me wanting to know how it would end.
Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi (4/5) – Homegoing was one of the best books I ever reads I really looked forward to her next book. This was just as well-written, with a fascinating plot line, however, I didn’t really connect to the characters as much as I thought I would.
City Baker’s Guide to Country Living by Louise Miller (4.5/5) — This was such a charming book, perfect for the season. I love Gilmore Girls and had heard the small town charm in this book would be similar — and it didn’t disappoint.
Do You Mind if I Cancel?, by Gary Janetti (4/5) — Such a funny, but still incredible touching, little memoir. I loved learning more about this incredible talent, hearing the stories that have made him into the man he is today. (Someone who makes me laugh with his Prince George Insta posts every day!)
The Guest List by Lucy Foley (4.5/5) – I loved this thriller! Without giving anything away, you see a story come together through many different perspectives. It’s suspenseful and the end doesn’t disappoint.
28 Summers by Erin Hilderbrand (4/5) – This was my second Erin Hilderbrand in two months and I liked this one better than the first. But, the premise was a little tough for me to understand with the infidelity and lack of guilt, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending.
What have you been reading lately? I’ve liked a lot of books recently but haven’t LOVED one in a while. What have you been loving?
