I’ve been listening to audio books more — while getting a ton of other stuff done!

Listening to books has definitely been a game changer this year. This is the second year I’ve had the goal of reading a book a week. Last year, when I rarely listened to books, that goals didn’t feel super easy. This year, however, it’s been a breeze — and I’m even a couple of books ahead of my goal right now. It’s all because I’ve started multi-tasking: listening to books while I do other things. This mostly includes walking around my neighborhood and getting chores done around the house.
So many of you ask me how I read as much as I do with work and kids, and I’d say this is one of my top tips. So, I thought I’d share an easy list of things I do while I listen to books (I typically listen on Audible but there are so many platforms out there). Here’s what I accomplished in recent weeks while checking another book off my fall reading list:
- Went on a long power walk
- Volunteered as Lily’s room parent (cutting paper for math projects)
- Folded laundry
- Unloaded the dishwasher
- Picked up the house
- Unloaded groceries
- Programmed blog posts
- Painted my nails
- Cleaned my computer desktop
- Scrolled Instagram (I’m gonna do it, so why not multi-task)
- Inputted items into my calendar
- Online shopped
- Organized my house
- Switched over my closet from summer to fall
Do you listen to audio books? What else do you do while you listen? Here’s a list of my favorites in case you’re looking!
