Wow, I don’t know if it was trying to pack things in after a COVID winter or the age of my kids, but the summer has been so nuts. With everything we had going, I slowed down a lot and haven’t written here as much as I’ve liked to. So, as I get ready to ramp the blogging back up, I thought I’d start with a little life update, sharing what we’ve been doing and what I’ve been enjoying most this summer.

Gathering
My kids’ summers mostly take place down the road at our swim and tennis club. They have so much fun hanging out with their friends, taking lessons and eating a lot of ice cream. Once I’m done working, I often meet them over there and we hang out with friends or have dinner. It’s such a wonderful way to spend the summer, and since I know they’ll someday outgrow it, I’m definitely savoring every moment we spend there as a family and with friends.

Reading
I’ve really loved working my way through my summer reading list. While I don’t always love lighter reads (I’m more of a memoir or historical fiction kind of gal), it’s been so nice to breeze though some easier fiction. I’d highly recommend Malibu Rising or People We Meet on Vacation if you’re still looking for a nice beach read!

Watching
With COVID, my kids were constantly around, leaving us to watch their shows or reruns of classic sitcoms (not complaining). But you guys, we finally watched some grown-up television! Chris and I loved The Morning Show with Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Anniston. Can’t wait for the next season. But the real winner was the first season of Ted Lasso – probably one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. Highly recommend and Season 2 just started!
Moving
I’m still loving the Peloton bike, but when the weather’s nice I need to get outside so I use the Peloton app for short runs. I also started “habit stacking,” listening to audio books on walks. Some of my favorite audio books this summer have been Golden Girl, American Royals: Majesty and I’ve just started One True Loves by one of my favorite authors, Taylor Jenkins Reid.
Eating
As many of you know, I’m a big meal planner, but it’s so hard in the summer. After too many nights completely unprepared, we decided to try a meal kit service. After several weeks of Green Chef, I can say I’m really loving it. Green Chef has tons of healthy options and is great for vegan, vegetarian and paleo diets. I find when the ingredients are delivered right to my door, I’m much more likely to cook a healthy meal.
Wearing
If you’ve seen me this summer, you know what I’ve been wearing on repeat – the Hillhouse Nap Dress. That’s right, I’m hooked! It’s definitely been my summer uniform. Dress it up or down, it’s so easy and comfortable. I may have purchased three this summer and I’m sure my collection will grow.
