It’s that time — the kids are headed back to school! That means organizing food in our fridge and pantry so snacks and lunch items are at the ready. I’ve found the more organized and easily to grab the food is, the more likely they’ll pack it themselves! Here’s what we do to try to have lots of options ready for them.
Pantry Items

We keep all of the small pantry snacks in these containers from The Container Store so they’re nicely corralled and easy to see. Here’s where we keep grab n’ go snack and lunch items like granola bars, fruit strips, apple sauce, popcorn, goldfish and more. And I love my The Home Edit labels just for fun.
Fridge Items

The fridge is where most of the lunch items are kept. We got iDesign Live Simply fridge bins from Costco and they’ve been a life saver. Here we keep lunch items like hummus, cheese, sausage, yogurt and more.
Bulk Items

Our mudroom closet pantry is where is keep bulkier food items that we use to cook with. While most of these items aren’t grab n’ go for the girls, they still head back here to find larger bags of chips or pretzels that they put in a container themselves versus pre-packaged food (which despite the photos here we really try to do throughout the year to not use as much plastic). We used these inexpensive bins to corral the food in our pantry. Learn more about our pantry organization!
Ok, we’re ready for school! KIND OF (insert nervous laughter). Doing the best we can to feel organized and prepared. How you doing?
