How I’m Using Essential Oils

I’ve loved Young Living essential oils for years but I’ve been going all in recently. When my step-sister Hilary, a total wellness guru, introduced them to me a while back, I wasn’t sure what to think, but now I rely on them to help keep our house healthy, clean and calm. ⁣

While I’ve always been known to be bit of a germophobe, not surprisingly, I’m a little extra right now with COVID. Having the essential oils as one more way to try to stay as healthy as possible helps ease my mind that I’m doing everything I can to boost immunity and attempt to create a calm environment during this stressful time.

Here’s are the easy ways I’ve been using essential oils in my house (and I know I haven’t even scratched the service!).

Immunity Boosting

Thieves, Thieves and more Thieves. The second I hear someone sniffle, I start diffusing the Thieves essential oil blend around the house and in bedrooms at night and putting a couple drops on the bottoms of feet at night. With school starting and COVID numbers on the rise, I pretty much do this every night these days.

Thieves is combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon Bark, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary. The smell is strong and spicy, but I really like it.

While of course I don’t know if this keeps us healthy, I find that when I use it immediately when we’re feel crumby, we feel as bad as we would have — or we don’t get sick. Whether this is mental or physical, I’ll take it.

Naturally Clean

We’ve been slowly swapping many of the cleansers in our house for Young Living Cleansers — the Thieves line keeps pretty much has it all to keep freshen and purify a home, including laundry and dish detergent, surface cleansers, hand wash and fruit and veggies soak.

During COVID, we have used a lot of harsher (and toxic) cleansers and sanitizers. Now that the pandemic does not look like it’s going away very soon, I’m really making an effort to use more natural cleansers, which I should be doing anyway. The effect these toxic products can have on us long term is pretty scary.

Purifying the air by diffusing oils really helps too — my go-tos are the Thieves, Lemon and Purification oils.

Mentally Calming

While I certainly don’t know everything about essential oils, I know that when I diffuse blends in my house, everything feels a little calmer, kind of like being at a spa (well, not that relaxing but you get the idea). My favorite blends to diffuse for a more serene environment at home are Stress Away, Lavender and Peace & Calming.

Do you have a reading goal for 2022? The past two Do you have a reading goal for 2022? The past two years I’ve read about a book a week, hitting 52 books in 2020 and even more this year. I can happily say this goal is no longer a tough one for me, but a new habit and hobby that bring so much joy to my life. Part of that is this community, so thank you all! I’ll continue reading (and posting about it) just as much next year, but I’ll be focused less on quantity and more on quality. I’m excited to see where another year of reading takes me.

I’d love to hear what your plans for reading are in 2022! And watch for a post on my favorite books of 2021 coming soon!
