Last summer, the pandemic surely made us appreciate our outdoor space, so we finally gave our patio a little love. Since we spent a whole lot more time out there — approximately 1000 times more than previous summers — it was well worth the investment. However, we were able to get a look we loved without the hefty price tag.
As we get ready for another spring and summer, I wanted to share our relatively low cost patio finds because we still love all of it. It held up extremely well all last summer and, while we removed the cushions, the larger furniture did great out uncovered all winter!
As a little refresh, while we wanted a great outdoor space, we didn’t want to spend a ton of money on it. The thing about Wisconsin is that there are a lot of months we can’t use this space at all, so finding the right balance of style, quality and price was important. We ended up buying eight pieces of furniture and a rug on major sale from World Market, Target and Overstock, spending approximately $2,500 for everything! The only thing we’re waiting on is an umbrella, but we’re lucky that by mid-afternoon, the patio is completely shaded.
In terms of accessorizing our patio, I really kept it simple so there’s not too much to bring in when storms hit. Our new blue stripe Chappy Wrap and some blue hydrangeas add the perfect amount of color in our outdoor space against all the neutrals.
This spring, we’ve also added a new fire pit. A lot of our friends have a Solo Stove, so we knew we already loved it. These are smokeless, stainless steel fire pits that honestly work. We got the Bonfire Fire Pit with the stand. Our back yard is shaded in the afternoon, so this extra heat is so necessary. S’mores sound really good too!

Drumroll…Our Patio Before & After
Here’s the before photo of our space – a dining table and that’s it. So boring. I even threw our cushions away before I was able to snap this pic because they were so old and dingy. We never entertained, never hung out and didn’t eat out here much as a family. Now that we’ve made it a lounge space, we’re reading, having friends for a distanced cocktail and eating dinner as a family.
Who’s excited for patio season?
