The holidays are almost here and now I’m ready with an organized and fully-stocked gift closet!

This closet sits in our home office, which used to be my daughter’s bedroom before we added on to our house. It was stuffed with some office items, some random things and all of our gift wrap. And it was a complete mess!
Before and After
Here’s the before and after! Note the office closet was still lilac from Lily’s old room!

When I saw the White Elfa Utility Gift Wrap Over the Door Rack from the Container Store, I thought that would be the perfect way to organize our gift wrap. It’s so nice to have everything you need to wrap gifts all together, with the little things you need like tape, scissors and tags right where you need them. I stocked up solid gift wrap so I’m ready for any type of gift throughout the year.

Then, I decided that the closet itself could contain even more gift wrap (tissue, bags, etc.), along with all the gifts I store year round for hostess, holiday and birthday gifts.
The closet already had two shelves (one we had been storing in the basement got resurrected) and rods. We bought iDesign Clear Stackable Closet Bins to contain (see how I’m using The Home Edit lingo here?) the gifts and the Sterilite Wide 3-Drawer Chest with Wheels to store the bags, tissue and boxes.
On the top shelf, I used an acrylic file sorter to show off some rainbow-colored gift bags, and moved my favorite greeting card storage up to the closet too.

Last but not least, I used the old bottom curtain rod to hang the gross-grain ribbon to put the best finishing touch on any gift!

I’m so excited to actually wrap gifts this holiday season without getting so frustrated by how messy everything is! And what’s even better, I feel like I’m all set for a year of gift giving. Since I can’t see so many people in person, sending small gifts is something I’m planning to do much more!
