One of the top questions I get about books is “Can you recommend a light, easy read” — a.k.a. the beach read. Our lives can be so busy and stressful that sometimes all we want is escape and not think too hard when we pick up a book. We want something that moves quickly and keeps us entertained. So, with vacation and summer coming up, I thought I’d share some of my top recommended lighter reads.
Daisy Jones & the Six
This novel about a band’s rise to fame and the break up of its lead singings is one you won’t want to put down. Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid feels so real, you’ll start guessing whether it’s a true story. This was one of my top reads of 2020!
The Unhoneymooners
I don’t usually love romance books, but The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren kept me thoroughly entertained from start to finish. It’s funny and sweet — a great romantic comedy and a fantastic beach read. I’ve really enjoyed other books from Christina Lauren as well.
American Royals
Loved the drama in American Royals by Katharine McGee. Such a great premise and we all love a look into a royal family — even if it’s fictional. I haven’t read the sequel, Majesty, yet but it’s on my list as one of my next beach reads.
Crazy Rich Asians
Who doesn’t love a story where someone like us finds themselves among the insanely wealthy. I loved the characters and setting in Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. I can’t believe I haven’t watched the movie but I’m so excited to.
28 Summers
I loved the premise of 28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand, following a relationship over years that’s full of drama and surprises. The coastal settings of Hilderbrand’s books make them all great beach reads.
